Some of Rock's premier guitar players and singers pay tribute to one of the greatest blues/rock guitar bands of all time. Performers include Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, Glenn Hughes, Eric Gales, Neal Schon (Journey), Tim Bogert ( Jeff Beck, Cactus ), Leslie West, Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple ) and more!
This is a tribute to one of the all time great blues guitar masters. Leslie West (Mountain), Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, Frank Marino (Mahogany Rush), Ricky Medlocke ( Blackfoot, Lynyrd Skynyrd) , Steve Hunter (Lou Reed, Alice Cooper), Jon Butcher, Craig Erickson, Kevin Russell and Tony Spinner perform smoking renditions of songs popularized by one of the all-time electric blues guitar greats.
Jackhammer blues, like Rick’s last prior blues blaster, places a classic rock voice and an iconic guitar presence behind a collection of blues favorites where Derringer delivers what some say are definitive versions.
Reminiscent of his work with Johnny and Edgar Winter, Rick runs the gamut from grinding slow blues to steamin' shuffles with an intensity and prowess that will remind you where it all started and how far it's come. This is the first of six Rick Derringer records recorded for Blues Bureau. In addition to his many records with Johnny and Edgar Winter, Derringer is perhaps most remembered for singing “Hang On Sloopy” for the McCoys when he was a teenager and for his hit single “Rock and Roll Hootchie Coo”.
